Chapel in brand and marketing use:

The Duke Chapel represents that heart of campus and sits at the center of Duke’s iconic gothic architecture. As one of the most recognizable symbols of the University, this building serves many people, spiritualities, histories, and futures. It is because of this stature that we must take steps to ensure its integrity both in design and portrayal of Duke.

In doing so, the following guidelines have been drafted for any print or digital representations of the Duke Chapel on behalf of Duke.

  • Use of the Chapel as a design element is highly restricted.
  • Images of the Duke Chapel may not be used on apparel, or other products unless such products are to be used specifically for Duke Chapel functions, or by Duke Chapel staff
  • No graphical likeness of the Chapel should be created as a representation of the Duke brand.
  • Only the following graphic of the Duke Chapel is available for use without appropriate approval
  • It is not to be used in lieu of the official Duke wordmark
  • Do not use a scaled version of the graphic that does not provide enough contrast
    • Do not use unapproved colors of the Chapel graphic
    • Do not add drop shadows or alter the graphic in any way.
    • “Do not use the chapel graphic independent of established conventions. “
    • Apparel, merchandise, any use.

When using photographic imagery of the chapel, please use the following standards:

  • Do not use filters to alter the image
  • When using an archival photo, please
